Flintstone Circle on the Track of Turtle and Dinosaur

dinozaur
Charming region of Vistula River, where poor development of industry led to saving almost pristine character of nature, is certainly the greatest asset of the Track of Turtle and Dinosaur (Krzemienny Krag na Szlaku Zolwia i Dinozaura).

Walking around the track, you can relax from the hustle and bustle of the urban world as well as enjoy silence, tranquility and beautiful landscapes. Furthermore, visitors have great opportunity to meet rare species of animals, birds and plants. The track consists of two sections. The blue section leads from Janowiec to Bałtów (where traces dinosaurs of were discovered), whereas the other (green) is a hiking trail connecting Solec Over Vistula (Solec nad Wisla) and Lipsko.

Walking around the track, visitor can find many interesting and charming places such as:

  • The Borowiec Nature Reserve (over 200 species of vascular plants, including sundew and orchis latifolia) which belongs to Natura 2000 network.
  • The Raj (Paradise) Nature Reserve, where, thanks to its specific microclimate and calcareous soil, visitors have chance to see thermophilic plants of the exceptional value on the scale of Poland (e.g. European dwarf cherry) and one of the rarest Polish birds of prey – white-tailed eagle.

One of the greatest attractions of destination is the Bałtów Jurassic Park. In Bałtów, over 155 million years ago, there used to exist a warm Jurassic sea, inhabited by corals, brachiopods, bivalves, snails, sea urchins and ammonites. In its close vicinity, there was a land reigned by dinosaurs. Park tour is a time travel through millions of years of Earth’s history, from Cambrian to the present times. The biggest attraction of the park are high quality, natural-size models of dinosaurs and other groups of extinct animals. Numerous tables describing  dinosaurs, geological periods and development of life in the seas and on lands from millions years ago, are situated along the route. Therefore, visiting park is an excellent lesson of geology and natural history – for both children and adults.

The youngest visitors can spend some time on a well-equipped playground with lots of attractions including, geological and art workshops or excavating backbones and skulls of a huge Tyrannosaurus.
